Silver Mountain wine tour is a unique active city tour. Silver Mountain winery offers you wines from the heart of Krakow. Moreover during this tour you will not only visit winery but also climb a mound and look into hermitage.
How is it possible? There are gently sunlit hills with southern exhibition at outskirts of Krakow.The conditions are good for growing vine. Therefore on one of such hills two enthusiastic wine lovers decided to establish a vineyard. But they were not the first ones.
On that hill the Camaldolese Hermit Monastery was erected in 1604. Hardworking monks dealt with various crafts and winemaking was one of them. Now, hundereds of years later, the old tradition was reborn.
The founders of the vineyard leased the land from monks and after years of hard work they opened winery in 2008. Already in 2015 they produced 65 thousands bottles of Silver Mountain wine. During our tour you can visit the winery and taste Silver Mountain wine. Additionaly one of winery employees will introduce us to the secrets of production.
To fully use the potential of this area we will come close to the Hermit Monastery and men will be able to visit part of it (women are allowed to do so only on 12 days in year). Then we will have a nice walk in a forest towards Sowiniec hill. On top of it Polish people constructed a mound. This is an artificial hill which is dedicated to Józef Piłsudski (national hero of Poland) and getting independance in 1918. The hill is a great view point for Krakow and whole neighbourhood.
In the end of Silver Mountain wine tour we will visit winery and taste their wines. Additionally, for lunch we can visit a restaurant with one of the best views in Krakow. It is located in the historical buildings of Przegorzały palace. There is also a possibility to continue encounter with Polish wines in wine bar in Krakow where specialist of the subject may familiarize you with other Polish wines.
