This spring I took part in a training at the memorial site KL Plaszow. I passed the exam and now I am certified guide in this unique place.

Until 1942 there were two Jewish cemetries in this place. During WWII the Germans gave order to destroy. Jewish prisoners had to demolish graves of their own family and friends. Than the are was intended for a concentration camp. It existed in years 1942-1945and it is estimated that about 40,000 people became prisoners of this place full of cruelty. The camp was presented in the movie ‘The Schindler’s List’ as it played significant rolein history of Schindler’s List.

When it operated the camp was the place of inprisonment and murderous work for Jews from Kraków and other places as well as for Poles. Before the endof the war the buildings of the camp were destroyed on the order of the Germans.

Nowadays the team of historians from KL Plaszow Museum are working to restore the memory of this place. They shared their knowledge with us – the guides – and now I am prepared and authorised to pass on my knowledge to you.
