Hiking Eagle’s Nest Trail you can get to the north from Krakow. There on large tall rocks and limestone cliffs you will find eagls’ nests. These are medieval castles established by king Kazimierz the Great in the XIV century to protect Polish borders. There were located high on tops of limestones hills that’s why they were called Eagle Nests. There is the whole network of castles, strongholds and ruins connected by biking and hiking trails which give you an opportunity for longer and shorter trips. Apart form historical monuments, this area offers also beautiful nature: river gorges, limestones, interesting rock formations, caves, forests.
To those of you who have limited amount of time and want to spend it in an active way we recommend Hiking Eagle’s Nest Trail. We will see just fragments of trail with it’s highlights. We will get there by public transport and will have fair amount of walking in Ojcowski National Park. First of all we will get to Ojców, where you can visit ruins o mediaeval castle and beautiful valley of Prądnik river. In this area you can also admire rock formations and cave where one of Polish kings was hiding from enemies. Finally we will end the tour with tasting fresh trout from local farm.
