SPLENDID TOUR OF THE ROYAL CITY
Kraków city tour
Kraków used to be the capital city of Poland and the residence of Polish kings for hundreds of years! Therefore it is truly a royal city and deserves a splendid tour.
Explore this beautiful medieval town with me as we walk its old cobbled streets. I will fill you in on the secrets of royal romances and ancient legends while we visit Wawel Hill. This was the cradle of Kraków and until today it is one of the most important places in Poland full of sights connected with Polish history. For example, we will visit Wawel Cathedral – coronation and burial place of Polish kings.
Further, we will chat about the students of the oldest university in Poland when we get to University District. Moreover, when we get to the Market Square we will gossip about medieval vendors and public executions among other things.
Kraków is called second Rome because of number of churches. There are 164 catholic churches here. But for centuries this city was house for people of many other religions. They had been building Kraków together. That’s why my Kraków city tour shows city’s multicultural and multireligious heritage.
During our Kraków city tour we will visit the most beautiful and outstanding churches: St. Mary’s basilica with amazing altar made by Wit Stwosz, and St. Francis church with beautiful stained-glass windows.
Finally, we will set on a journey to neighbouring town called Kazimierz to learn about its Jewish community and visit some synagogues. In magical Kazimierz we will delve into the mistical world of legends and religious traditions.
This is a walking tour but the pace of our walk will be adjusted to your abilities. We will make it more pleasant with a coffee break in one of the iconic cafes of Kraków.
