The Lesser Poland is one of the oldest regions of Poland. Many important historical events took place here and numerous monuments testify to its importance and glory days. However, the most fascinating thing about the Lesser Poland is its multicultural diversity. People of different nationalities and religions left their traces here and contributed to local heritage.
That’s why during this tour you’ll have a chance to visit both unique wooden church and an old synagogue, little villages but also a mediaeval castle.
The Lesser Poland Region is full of little treasures – over 200 wooden churches are spread all over the region. Some of them are dated back to the 15th century, some of them are on the UNESCO List and all of them are unique and beautiful. These are truly priceless monuments of wooden architecture unique in the world.
Moreover, they are usually situated in picturesque small villages delightfully integrated into the landscape. That’s why this tour is also an occasion to admire Polish countryside and province.
During this active day trip you will have just few hours of undemanding walk. However, the impressions will be stunning. You will see the most breathtaking views of the Dunajec river gorge. If the weather is good you will also admire panorama of the Tatra mountains.
We will complete the tour with visiting some historical sights. The mediaeval castle in Czorsztyn is situated on the rock above artificial lake. Thanks to that we can admire it from a contemporary dam.
Zakopane is a winter capital city of Poland as it is located at the feet of the highest mountains in Poland the Tatra Mountains. During our trip we will take you by cable car to Kasprowy Wierch (1987 meters) – one of the most outstanding peaks which offers you a wonderful panoramic view of the Tatras. Afterwards, you will enjoy the old part of Zakopane and a traditional meal, followed by a visit to thermal pools resort.
One of my active day trips gives you a chance to combine biking and rafting. First you will bike along the Dunajec river. Than you will admire the a picteresque gorge while rafting down the river. Apart from spectacular views we can also have a quick visit to Slovakia to have a sip of local beer in an old monastery. This tour is packed with adventures and unforgetable experiences.
To the north from Krakow on large tall rocks and limestone cliffs one can see The Eagles’ Nests – medieval castles established by king Kazimierz the Great in the 14th century to protect Polish borders.
This tour within the Ojcowski National Park gives you a chance to admire not only impressive historical sights but also beautiful nature and unique rock formation e.g. the Hercule’s Club. After walking on gentle trails of the National Park you will taste local smoked trout and excellet wine to regain strength.
Until WWII, Poland was a multicultural country where people of different cultures and religions had been coexisting for centuries. Jews, Orthodox, Greek-Catholics, Gypsies, Catholics lived together in small villages of the Lesser Poland. The traces of that are spread throughout the region and during one day trip you can learn a lot about several different cultures.
